Qualifications
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment; operation and repair characteristics of gas and diesel powered equipment; legal mandates, policies, regulations and guidelines pertaining to the repair, overhaul, maintenance of pupil transportation and automotive equipment; safe working methods, procedures and sage driving practices.
Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical schematics and diagrams; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.
Three years’ experience as a journeyman mechanic; education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or course work in gasoline, diesel compressed natural gas, powered equipment repair, overhaul, and maintenance.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Class “A” Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
Must submit a recent DMV (3 year minimum) driving record with application.
Must possess or be able to obtain an A.S.E. School Bus Technician Certification within six months of employment.
A criminal history check and pre‑employment medical assessment will be required of the successful candidate prior to employment.
Duties
Perform skilled repair, overhaul, and maintenance of school buses, passenger vehicles, trucks, and other gasoline, diesel, and compressed natural gas powered vehicles under supervision.
Compensation and Work Schedule Starting salary: $5,508.54 per month. Employment: 12 months (beginning as soon as possible). Hours: 8 daily, 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
