Full-time/Part-time: Full-time - 40 hours per week.
Salary Range: $20.50 - $21.50 / hour
SUMMARY The Grants Coordinator position supports the mission of the RMSC to create a better world through inspiring curiosity, exploration, and engagement across history, science, culture, and the natural world by performing high-level professional work related to grant seeking, grant administration, and coordinating grant management activities. Supporting the work of the Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations, the Senior Director of Grants, Government Relations, & Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Director of Development, and the CEO, the Grants Coordinator will: research and identify grant funding opportunities and grant funding needs; research and develop grant‑funding sources; assist in determining grant eligibility; follow administrative procedures and controls for the grant application process; facilitate interdepartmental coordination and communication on multi‑departmental grant projects to ensure that grants are processed and administered on time and according to grant requirements; follow and improve internal grant tracking procedures; report grant activities to the Development and Leadership Teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain accurate records of all grant-related correspondence and documentation.
Monitor progress of awarded grants and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Communicate with program staff and grantors regarding project updates, data, financial, and program reports.
Ensure timely submission of required documentation for grant applications and reports.
Research and identify grant opportunities.
Prepare and submit grant proposals in line with funder guidelines and deadlines.
Collaborate with program staff to develop project budgets and narratives.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct reports.
Will be responsible for coordinating and managing grant application and reporting schedules with members of the Leadership Team and other relevant program and project staff.
COMPETENCIES Informational/Technical:
Appropriate use of the internet, intranet, email, payroll system, phone system, and computer systems. RMSC uses the Google Suite platform. Working knowledge of Altru or other donor database solutions, as well as grant management tools, is preferred. Training will be provided.
Communication:
Ability to communicate effectively, politely, professionally, and comfortably with donors, trustees, guests, and staff. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and obtains clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings. Extremely high proficiency in clear and informative written communication and non‑financial understanding. Ability to read complex written information and budgets, and be able to interpret data from multiple sources.
Decision Making and Reasoning Ability:
Must be dependable, organized, and able to adapt to changing demands and environments; the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions delivered in written or verbal form. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to read and understand financial documents such as budgets and statements.
Time Management:
Ability to set priorities and to meet established deadlines without direct supervision. Ability to effectively transition between multiple duties. Ability to take initiative and identify projects in need of completion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as public administration, nonprofit management, or business administration. 1-3 years of previous experience in grant writing and grant management. Proficiency in using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Blackbaud’s Altru, or similar CRM software.
