Job Summary In this role, you will participate in subcontract formation and/or administration. Subcontract formation includes leading preparation and review of bid request packages and developing project contract operating procedures. Subcontract administration includes continual progress review, forecasting, and communication of difficulties. Your work will ensure subcontract compliance with project requirements. This position is designated as part‑time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in‑person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‑person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities Subcontract Management

Implements the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule which records the Project’s agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management

Gathers and compiles support data for the preparation of documents and the management of subcontracts

Assists Subcontract Manager or more senior Subcontract Professionals in completion of the various tasks required by the Contract/Subcontract Management Guidebook, Standard Work Process Procedures, and automated subcontract management systems

Monitors areas of subcontract performance, as assigned

Conducts investigations and inquiries into specific subcontract problems, as assigned

Organizes materials for the preparation of meetings, presentations, and training sessions, and prepares periodic status reports

Works with Digital Supply Chain and other Automation Tools

Subcontract Formation

Duties and responsibilities involve the formation and award of small value, routine‑type subcontracts

Assists with negotiations in commitment of contracts, but directs negotiation in small value contracts

Develops and issues subcontracts and services agreements as assigned

Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially

Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations

Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures

Prepares subcontract documents for execution

Prepares and maintains control and status reporting documents

Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre‑bid, bid clarification and pre‑award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer and contractor on all contractual matters

Education And Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

Experience in Subcontract Management on construction projects

Experience and completion of courses in pricing, contract law, contract drafting, contract administration and negotiation, planning and scheduling

Skilled in negotiations for formation and post‑award changes

Knowledge of risk and insurance provisions, claim preparation, and resolution strategies in coordination with legal and claims teams

Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry subcontracting scopes of services and work practices

Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry execution, procedures and work practices

Knowledge of procurement regulations, policies and practices

Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Experience in administering and interpreting contract types, fee arrangements and contract terms

Open to relocation
