What You’ll Do As a

Lift Maintenance Mechanic 1 , you’ll assist with troubleshooting, scheduled and emergency mechanical and hydraulic maintenance as relevant to all aspects of ski lifts. These include, but are not limited to, mechanical, industrial control systems, low voltage AC and DC controls, motors, drives, and hydraulic tensioning systems.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Follow all lift maintenance policies and procedures as outlined by Lift Maintenance Supervisor, Mountain Operations Manager, General Manager, ANSI, and lift manufacturers.

Assist in troubleshooting and repair of lift related mechanical and hydraulic systems.

Perform or assist in performing repairs as needed.

Enter and update record keeping maintenance logs.

Assist in repair, maintenance and upgrading of mechanical lift components.

Assist in installation and repair of overhead and buried communication systems.

Assist other team members to assure lifts are operating in compliance with all applicable safety codes.

Actively involved in lift emergency procedures and time dependent repairs.

Prioritize according to departmental goals.

Have a basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic operating systems and ability to learn new systems as they pertain to lift operation and maintenance.

Work closely with level 2 and higher level mechanics and electricians to further training and understanding of lift electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and operational systems.

Communicate with the Lift Maintenance Supervisor, Mtn. Operations Manager, Mountain GM and other crew on all lift electrical/maintenance matters and safety issues.

What We Need

Must be over 18 years old.

High school education or equivalent.

Must possess a valid Alaska Driver’s License.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

6 months to 1 year of experience in lift operation, lift electrical, lift maintenance and/or equivalent.

Basic knowledge of small hand tools, rigging, and equipment and the ability to use them.

Ability to consult manuals, trade publications, vendors, staff schools and training programs to keep updated on current shop practices and new maintenance technologies to improve the efficiency and production of the Lift Maintenance Department.

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

Ability to ski or snowboard expert terrain in all conditions.

Ability to operate small equipment such as snowmobiles and ATVs.

What To Expect

Be on alert and at times, on your feet for long periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Duties may need to be performed indoors or outdoors, at heights and in all weather conditions.

Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort and special events.

Physical demands and work environment

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. The employee must be able to operate hand and foot controls on vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is ice and snow outside, and wet floors indoors.
