The Design Engineer – Control Panels is responsible for various control cabinet design tasks such as selection & use of appropriate components, schematic creation, making sure the design meets regulatory standards, performing heat calculations, design / drafting of mechanical components, developing testing procedures & fixtures, selecting appropriate packaging, perform product costing, and ongoing change maintenance.

Responsibilities

Control panel design (component selection, enclosure selection, environmental and thermal analysis, power, I/O wiring, and adherence to regulatory standards).

Designs and documents enclosure modifications and custom mechanical components.

Specifies packaging to eliminate shipping damage.

Creates assembly and mechanical drawings.

Creates production electrical testing procedures and fixtures.

Performs product changes (drawing, product, BOM changes).

Creates and modifies manufacturing, packaging, marking, and component drawings.

Completes article, BOM, component setup and maintenance in PDM / PLM System

Coordinates design reviews between planning, manufacturing, and purchasing.

Follows all corporate processes / procedures in an ISO 9001 environment.

Acts as a member of project teams.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Must be knowledgeable in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

CAD experience required (AutoCAD or similar).

Experience with UL508A preferred.

EPLAN or AutoCAD electrical experience preferred.

3D Modeling experience preferred.

Knowledge of GD&T a plus.

Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel).

Essential Job Functions

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Must be able to ride in a car for 6 hours at a time.

Must be able to travel by air.

Must be able to communicate in English (written & verbal).

Must be eligible to receive US passport.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Regular and on-time attendance.

This is a hybrid position unless otherwise specified requiring 3 days in the office.
