Base pay range
$55.00/hr – $65.00/hr We’re seeking a Senior Systems Engineer II to join our team in Warren, Michigan, where you’ll play a key role in shaping the architecture and delivery of complex defense systems. In this role, you’ll apply strong systems engineering fundamentals to lead requirements development, system integration, and lifecycle activities while working closely with cross‑functional engineering, program, and customer teams. You’ll act as a technical leader and mentor—guiding design decisions, ensuring traceability and compliance, and helping teams deliver solutions that meet demanding customer and regulatory expectations. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering or a closely related engineering role. Proven experience developing, managing, and maintaining system requirements. Demonstrated leadership in process development, standardization, or continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrated experience leading technical efforts across multiple disciplines. Strong background in system architecture, integration, and verification activities. Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools. Desired Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Experience with the engineering and integration of ground vehicle systems and subsystems. Experience with ‘V-Model’ development process steps and methodologies. Experience working in regulated or mission‑critical environments (defense, aerospace, automotive, etc.). What You Will Be Doing
Lead the development, decomposition, and management of system and subsystem requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the system lifecycle. Serve as the primary requirements owner, including authoring, maintaining, validating, and managing changes to requirements in accordance with established processes. Develop and maintain system‑level documentation including specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), verification plans, and technical reports. Lead system integration, verification, and validation activities, including test planning, execution oversight, and issue resolution. Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; proactively propose mitigation strategies. Support proposal development, technical reviews, design reviews, and customer briefings. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and peers. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including development and refinement of engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
