About the Role
LHH is partnering with a manufacturing organization in the Ann Arbor area in the search for an Assistant Controller. They are looking for a hands‑on accounting leader with strong experience in month‑end close, inventory and cost accounting. This organization prioritizes collaborative work practices and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do:
Manage cash flow and oversee AP, AR, payroll, and benefits
Prepare financial statements and lead the month‑end close process
Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations
Handle sales tax filings, income tax documentation, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Review variance analysis and perform ad‑hoc financial and operational analysis
Assist with budgeting and forecasting, oversee inventory and purchasing
Maintain the fixed asset ledger and manage compliance for banking, HR, insurance, and leases
Special projects and ad‑hoc responsibilities, as assigned
What You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of experience
Experience leading or coaching others
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel
ERP experience
Solid understanding of GAAP
