Summary Under the general supervision of the interventional radiologists and the Manager, Medical Imaging, perform vascular and interventional exams, ensuring the functional integrity of equipment and fostering patient and family‑centered care in line with Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities
Assists the radiologist in the diagnosis of diseases as requisitioned by patients’ physicians.
Assists the radiologist in carrying out interventional and angiographic procedures.
Maintains aseptic conditions during special procedures.
Performs scrub duties and circulating duties during special procedures involving selective catheterization of arteries.
Sets up surgical trays, supplies, and equipment; anticipates needs for instruments.
Prepares, drapes, and positions the patient; observes for reaction to iodine contrast injection and checks peripheral pulses.
Assists in setting up the EKG/pressure monitor when needed.
Sets up and operates a high‑pressure injector.
Assists a fellow technologist in the operation and setup of all diagnostic equipment.
Adjusts equipment as required to ensure proper operation.
Adjusts immobilization devices, assembles equipment supplies, and positions equipment for required exposure.
Observes patient and reports pertinent information.
Washes, cleans, and sends instruments to Central Supply; prepares laboratory and equipment for next procedure.
Maintains expiration dates per supply policy.
Sends images to PACS, develops film, prepares reports, and maintains records of services rendered.
Ensures proper charge codes on requisitions, orders and tracks items on RIS, and enters data into the HI‑IQ system.
Trains or assists in training new staff members.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas.
Logs data for equipment and calls service when needed.
Maintains quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control per department policies.
Performs all essential functions with consideration of the age‑specific needs of geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients.
Performs duties of an X‑ray technologist using advanced techniques on fixed and portable equipment.
Minimum Qualifications Performs other related duties as required.
Basic Knowledge Two years of formal training in a School of Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist with a current license to work in the State of Rhode Island. Three months training in aseptic techniques and training in specialized catheterization studies.
Demonstrated Skills Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, considering aging, developmental states, and cultural patterns.
Experience One year of Angiography experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements Healthcare environment (acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices, ancillary healthcare enterprises). Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact. Walks and stands intermittently; lifts supplies up to 50 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibility None.
Pay Range $39.56–$65.28
