Maintenance Technician

In partnership with Tufts Medicine, Acadia has created the Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital, a state‑of‑the‑art 144‑bed facility in Malden, Massachusetts, slated to open in early 2026.
Position Overview Maintenance Technicians perform routine and specific maintenance services—including grounds work—across the facility’s infrastructure.
Essential Functions
Perform general maintenance and repair to facility and equipment, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical equipment repair.
Act as backup for call person in case of emergency, responding promptly and appropriately.
Handle all equipment safely, demonstrating good working knowledge of tools and their safe use.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Follow preventive maintenance schedule/instructions and complete reports as requested.
Inspect and maintain emergency power equipment, test/start generator weekly, inspect fire alarm system (testing system, fire doors, audible alarms, visible alarms, smoke detectors) and maintain records as required by state or facility; check extinguishers monthly; inspect and maintain lighting system throughout facility.
Inspect and maintain plumbing systems, replacing or repairing faucets, toilets, urinals, traps, drains, basins, bathtubs as needed; repair or refinish furniture in rooms, offices, and dining areas.
Other Functions
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in maintenance or facility operations required.
Knowledge of standard practices, procedures, and tools in the general building/maintenance trades preferred.
Pay range: $28.31 to $33.80/hr.
