The Coordinator reports to the Director of Learning and Engagement and works with the Public Programs Manager to plan, coordinate, facilitate, and document weekly children and families programs during the season (April‑November). Primary focus is on onsite, family‑focused programs; the Coordinator also coordinates community partnership and occasional off‑season programs. Hours: Sundays for weekly programs plus additional weekday hours to total 20 hours per week. Why Join Us?

Children & Families Public Programs
Coordinate the roster of children and families programs, primarily on Sundays. Manage staffing, supplies, and logistics for each program. Schedule freelance teaching artists. Develop and facilitate drop‑in family tours and activities. Draft program descriptions for print and digital promotion. Maintain internal and public calendars.
Collaborate with Visitor Engagement staff for smooth onsite operations. Track program budgets and process invoices. Collect qualitative feedback from attendees, educators, and staff. Maintain records of past programs and monitor participation statistics. Coordinate a Request for Proposals (RFP) every 2–3 years to refresh the teaching artist pool. Ensure inclusion and accessibility in all programs. Community Partnerships and Programs
Lead tours and hands‑on activities onsite and in Newburgh and Cornwall. Identify off‑site programming opportunities and maintain local relationships. Coordinate staffing, supplies, and logistics. Maintain detailed partnership activity records and collect partner feedback. Track program budgets and process invoices. Off‑Season Programs and Workshops
Coordinate occasional artist‑led workshops. Co‑ordinate registration and communication with participants. Develop program descriptions and collaborate with Communications for promotion. Liaise with Visitor Experience staff for onsite operations. Other Responsibilities
Support major public programs and departmental initiatives. Contribute to printed materials and interpretation resources. Lead tours as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Education, or related field (preferred). 2–3+ years working with K‑12 audiences in a public‑facing cultural institution (required). Strong knowledge of modern & contemporary art (required). Knowledge of landscape & ecology (preferred). Excellent interpersonal skills and experience speaking to diverse groups. Advocacy for the mission and vision of Storm King and ability to represent the Center externally. Passion for visual arts and commitment to making collections accessible and meaningful. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain high organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet research, and administrative office procedures. Familiarity with Altru or other CRM platforms (plus). CPR/Red Cross first aid training (plus). Spanish proficiency or fluency (plus). Valid Class D driver’s license with a clean record. Working Environment
Office environment and outdoors in various weather conditions. Outdoor maneuvering across 500 acres of hills, grass, and gravel pathways. Standing or walking for long periods during events or tours. Sitting for long periods. Said, read, write, and use computer keyboard regularly. Occasional lifting, stooping, or bending. Ability to vocalize on two‑way radio. Lift/move up to 15 lbs. Operate golf cart safely. Time outside normal business hours, weekend work, special events, and exhibition openings. Role represented by the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Local 1000, AFSCME, AFL‑CIO; governed by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between Storm King and CSEA Local 720 (Unit A). Travel to tri‑state area and NYC on occasion. Hours & Schedules
This part‑time, non‑exempt position requires 20 hours per week during the season (April‑November). Hours may vary based on seasonality. Benefits and Salary
