Registered Dental Assistant – Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians
We are seeking a licensed Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our team in a dynamic, multi‑site clinic environment. The RDA will assist in chairside dental procedures, manage infection control, instrument sterilization, and support clinical staff under the direction of the Lead RDAEFII.
Native Preference Preference is given to qualified enrolled members of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians and Native Americans in accordance with the Band’s Preference Policy. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must submit verification of Indian citizenship or tribal affiliation.
Essential Job Functions
Perform all phases of four (4) handed Dental Assisting duties for endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics and restorative procedures.
Perform standard and radiographic methods, expose process and mount diagnostic radiographs.
Show familiarity with dental terminology, materials, medications and instruments.
Support patient flow: clean, sterilize instruments and set up trays.
Maintain and test equipment such as sterilizers, X‑ray dosimetry and processors.
Effectively pour models and conduct lab procedures.
Instruct patients in oral hygiene under dentist supervision.
Review inventory and reorder supplies to maintain par levels.
Perform charting activities and document exam findings in patient records.
Maintain a clean, orderly and well‑stocked operatory and laboratory.
Plan work duties to ensure clinic efficiency.
Use knowledge of patient scheduling procedures.
Collaborate with staff dentists to implement preventive activities.
Ensure safety compliance, ergonomic standards and proper protective protocols.
Take corrective actions regarding employee health and safety.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Scope of Work
Function chairside as a Registered Dental Assistant.
Inspect the oral cavity, chart lesions and record findings.
Activate bleaching agents with non‑laser light‑curing devices.
Use caries detection devices for diagnosis.
Obtain intraoral images for CAD and milled restorations.
Conduct pulp vitality testing and recording.
Place bases, liners, bonding agents and prep teeth chemically.
Fabricate, adjust, cement, and remove indirect provisional restorations.
Place post‑extraction and periodontal dressings.
Dry canals with absorbent paper points.
Adjust dentures extra‑orally, remove excess cement, and polish coronal surfaces.
Place ligature ties, archwires, and remove orthodontic bands.
Requirements
Minimum 18 years of age.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
License as a Registered Dental Assistant in California.
At least one year experience as an RDA.
Current BLS CPR Certification.
Radiation Safety Certification or completion of an approved course.
Coronal polishing license and Sealant Certification.
Valid California driver’s license with proof of personal liability auto insurance.
Skills necessary to perform duties per California licensing guidelines.
Familiarity with dental terminology, materials, medications, and instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience in a clinic environment.
Spanish bilingual ability.
Background Check Requirements Pre‑employment drug testing and DOJ fingerprinting clearance, including Child Abuse Index, are contingencies for hiring. Criminal clearances protect client welfare and safety.
Vaccination Requirements A pre‑employment physical exam is required. Applicants must provide vaccination records for TB/PPD, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tdap & Hep B. Records older than ten years require titers. COVID‑19 vaccination status is also required.
Physical Demands Must regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs, and occasionally exert up to 20 lbs of force. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment Health clinic setting, low to moderate noise, exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, OSHA training required. Standard office equipment used. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
Employment Classification Entry level – Full‑time – Health Care Provider – Government Administration. Employment is at‑will; no manager authority to bind; terms may change per the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians.
