KTS is seeking a systems engineer to manage part of the systems engineering team which is responsible for the development of requirements, design, integration and test of KTS products. This is a full‑time position at the KTS facility in Des Plaines, IL.
Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight, mentoring and training to a team of five to ten Systems engineers.
Operate as a subject matter expert working with external customers to define systems requirements.
Manage development of products from design through test to verify compliance against requirements.
Staff projects including defining and prioritizing tasks. Provide workload forecasting and progress reports to ensure timely program execution.
Support proposal efforts to include budgetary and schedule estimates.
Educational Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
Eight or more years of engineering experience executing engineering design with systems engineering experience
Experience as a team or project lead
Proven history of providing technical guidance to junior engineers
Intimate knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices to include the Systems Engineering Technical Review process and V‑Model
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Preferred Skills
Technical and integration background with a solid understanding of developing battlespace CONOPS and mission‑oriented solutions
Demonstrated integration experience of various systems (ideally of aircraft systems)
Proficient with the following interfaces including setup and troubleshooting: Serial (RS‑232, RS‑422, RS‑485), Ethernet networking, PCIe, and MIL‑STD‑1553
Comfortable with C/C++ or scripting language programming
