Director of Accounting
Position Summary:
As the Director of Accounting, you will play a critical role in overseeing the accounting functions within the U.S. operations of a $1B+ privately held global manufacturing company. Reporting to the CFO, you will manage financial reporting, compliance, and operational accounting while supporting the company’s growth initiatives. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor a team, including a newly transitioned accountant from FP&A and other accounting staff.
Compliance & Controls:
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements, maintaining strong internal controls.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review financial statements, supporting the Director of Accounting in reporting to corporate leadership.
ERP & Systems:
Work closely with IT and finance leadership to ensure smooth integration with SAP and other financial systems.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Collaboration:
Work cross-functionally with FP&A, tax, treasury, and operations to support business objectives.
Acquisition Support:
Assist in financial due diligence and integration efforts as the company expands U.S. production through acquisitions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or parts distribution environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop accounting team members.
Ability to work in a global organization and collaborate across multiple locations.
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco notes the salary range for the role as follows:
$120-165k per year . The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
