The Broward County Attorney's Office 115 South Andrews Avenue, #423 Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301 Broward County, Florida, is seeking hearing officers to conduct hearings on behalf of Broward County pursuant to various Broward County ordinances and chapters of Florida Statutes, including, but not limited to, Chapters 154, 162, 316, and 489, Florida Statutes, Chapters 2, 4, 7, 8½, 9, 20, 21, 23, 27, and 39 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances for violations or appeals of administrative decisions or regulations related to building, zoning, building contractors, speed detection system enforcement, child care facilities licensing, family child care homes licensing, animal care, consumer protection, Florida’s Health Care Responsibility Act ("HCRA"), airport regulations, living wage, civil citation program, and environmental protection. Applicants must be members of The Florida Bar, have experience in Florida judicial or administrative procedures, and have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in one or more of the following areas: land use, zoning, environmental, construction, the HCRA, or local government law. Hearing officers shall be compensated $150 per hour, up to a maximum of $1,500 per case, plus an allowance of up to an additional $1,500 per case for time spent in preparation for hearings, conducting hearings, motion practice, and reviewing/drafting orders or rulings. Applicants must indicate if they or their firm have any clients or other circumstances that would pose a potential conflict of interest.
