Infection Prevention Staff Development Nurse (IPSD)

Position Overview The IPSD assesses, plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, and coordinates the community’s infection control and staff development program while performing clinical tasks and assisting in other departments.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure care team members receive compliance training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct.
Ensure documentation for all training is completed in accordance with state, federal, and compliance requirements.
Monitor care team member performance and take necessary action for compliance issues.
Develop and conduct a clinical orientation program in collaboration with the HR Manager for new and rehired care team members.
Provide hands‑on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed, unlicensed, and certified care team members.
Conduct or coordinate new care team member job training and CPR training.
Assess resident needs in relation to staff abilities and design appropriate training programs.
Work with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) to ensure clinical competency of nursing staff through observed skill evaluations and conduct annual competency assessments for licensed nursing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
Support nursing care team members by working the floor during critical staffing levels.
Collect, analyze, and provide infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners.
Consult on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
Ensure the community’s infection control reports describe the types of infections, identify trends and patterns.
Assist in department budget preparation and contain expenditures within budget.
Conduct and coordinate with HR Manager OSHA/Risk Management program with oversight of documentation requirements.
Ensure the educational curriculum meets or exceeds state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
Plan and conduct state and federally required in‑service programs.
Conduct certification or training programs for Nursing Assistants.
Coordinate and track Relias utilization by adding new care team members and removing those no longer employed.
Collaborate with HR Manager and Maintenance Director to provide annual OSHA required trainings.
Assess and ensure an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) is readily available to care team members.
Qualifications
Current LPN or RN license by State Board of Nursing; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
Valid CPR teaching certificate.
Can push, pull, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Experience in long‑term care or working with the geriatric population is preferred.
At least two years nursing experience with training in Infection Control.
