Work Schedule

Full time – 36 hours/week.

Three 12‑hour shifts.

Days, nights, or rotating shifts available.

What You Will Do As a Clinical Nurse in Duke University Health System, you will plan and provide professional nursing care for patients per the medical and nursing plans and established policies. Provide nursing services to patients and families per the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician orders and policies under supervision.

Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed care providers.

Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care delivery.

Maintain environment of care, prioritize work, and identify resources.

Pursue professional development and maintain required competencies.

Support development of other staff and formal learners.

Identify clinical or operational improvement opportunities and assist in performance improvement activities.

What You Can Expect

Educate patients and families per the nursing plan.

Relationship management with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership.

Licensure And Certification Required

Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure; obtain NC state licensure within 90 days of employment if compact.

BLS certification.

Education

Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Associate’s Degree, or Nursing Diploma required.

RNs without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years and complete within seven years.

Exception: RNs hired between 2014‑2021 must enroll within two years and complete within seven years. RNs hired before 2014 not required to enroll.
