DSHS Lakeland Village – Registered Nurse 2
Join our team at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA, as a Registered Nurse and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care—including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—for an assigned caseload, while directing and supporting the residential care staff. You will maintain clear, professional communication with each individual’s development team, caregivers, and supervisors to ensure the highest quality of care.

About Lakeland Village Lakeland Village is a state-operated, 24-hour residential facility serving approximately 210 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Located in Medical Lake and established in 1914, it offers a range of services through certified Nursing Facility and Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/IID) programs. Residents receive comprehensive care that includes medical and nursing support, therapeutic programming, and individualized treatment plans designed to promote independence and quality of life in a home-like setting. Lakeland Village also offers day programs focused on sensory integration, vocational training, and recreational activities, along with short-term respite services for eligible individuals.
Some of what you\'ll do
Provide nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and community protection concerns, including those with challenging behaviors or physical health issues.
Collect, analyze, and interpret health data to update nursing care plans, document treatments and responses, and ensure physician orders are accurately implemented.
Coordinate with Nurse Team Leaders, RNs, direct care staff, and the interdisciplinary team to oversee care, serve as primary nursing contact, and provide professional guidance and training.
Assist with preparation and implementation of care plans, Quarterly Medication Reviews, Individual Habilitation Plans, Behavior Support Plans, and other required meetings or documentation.
Administer medications, infusion therapy, lab work, and first aid, while maintaining licensure and compliance with safety and reporting standards.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and in-service education to support a safe, effective, and person-centered care environment.
Float to assigned units as needed, act as a QIDP or campus resource in the absence of supervisors, and maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
Desired skills, knowledge, and abilities
Apply professional nursing principles and concepts effectively in diverse clinical situations.
Perform and accurately interpret basic physical assessments.
Utilize the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) to guide patient care.
Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations, including OBRA and standards for ICF/ID.
Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering positive relationships with individuals, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Adapt to changing care needs and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors or complex health situations.
Maintain professional judgment, ethical standards, and confidentiality in all aspects of nursing practice.
Who should apply? We are looking for professionals who meet one of the following qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and at least one year of professional nursing experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience, totaling five or more years.
