Overview Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a BiTE Therapy RN to support our office in Newport News.
Responsibilities
Provide coordination for the care of patients receiving BiTE therapy drugs within the practice and give follow‑up education to the patient and families as needed.
Collaborate closely with the physician provider, VOA Urgent Care Clinics, and the affected nursing team to coordinate care.
Notify the nearest hospital in case of admission, ensure rescue medications are on hand in the office and at the nearest hospital, and notify the clinical insurance review team and the affected nursing team.
Ensure compliance with therapy and therapy plans.
Initiate patient treatment schedules and assessment tools.
Use critical thinking and anticipate the patient’s care needs by applying the full knowledge of the VOA BiTE Therapy playbook.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
Two to five years of nursing experience.
Oncology experience strongly preferred.
Current RN state license required.
Current BCLS certification required.
OCN certification preferred.
Willing to travel between offices as needed.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
