Where You Will Work Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning and more. This position requires work to be performed in-person at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix. The Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration.

What You Will Do

Provides geomechanical project oversight and review relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning.

Reviews slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews.

Communicate accurate, timely and relevant slope stability and geomechanical information to mine and site personnel.

Conduct and communicate the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles, and site access roads.

Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, geomechanical data acquisition and analyses.

Assists with the development, maintenance and implementations of strategic plans to enhance the mine’s slope stability program.

May represent the site on company sponsored steering teams related to geomechanical or mine slope stability efforts.

Overall property slope management functions for pit slopes, and stockpiles.

Develop, maintain and implement strategic plans to enhance the mine’s slope stability program.

Usage of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis, Mintec’s MineSight (or equivalent)

Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering disciplineandfive (5) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability,OR

Master's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering disciplineandthree (3) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering

Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications Experience in supervising, developing people, and guiding teams in highly technical areas

Working knowledge of TARP (Trigger Action Responsive Plans)

Experience delegating and managing priorities

Experience managing resources, including people and radars

What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently

$101,000-$141,000 . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
