Facilities Engineer
for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This is a
12-months contract
based in
Charleston, AL
that requires
onsite

This role is focused on ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of building systems and site infrastructure during a defined project phase. High focus on stabilization, optimization, and handover of facility systems. RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure reliable operation of facility and site infrastructure, including:
Electrical power distribution HVAC systems Compressed air systems Water, wastewater, and utility systems Fire protection and life safety systems
Troubleshoot and resolve facility-related issues impacting production or safety Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for building systems Coordinate and supervise external contractors, vendors, and service providers Support facility-related projects, upgrades, and modifications Ensure compliance with local codes, safety regulations, and internal standards Maintain and update facility documentation, drawings, and technical records Support energy efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability initiatives Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, EHS, and Engineering teams Ensure timely completion of all facility-related deliverables within the project timeframe QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Facilities, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience 3–5+ years of experience as a Facilities Engineer or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, utilities, fire protection) Experience working with contractors, service companies, and facility vendors Familiarity with local building codes, safety, and compliance requirements Ability to read and interpret facility drawings, schematics, and specifications Structured, solution-oriented, and hands‑on working style Willingness to support off‑hours activities during critical project phases PREFFERED SKILLS
Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing facilities Experience supporting project‑based assignments or plant ramp‑ups Knowledge of energy management and sustainability programs Experience with CMMS or facility management systems PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices. FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE
