Overview
Position Reports to: Reports to the President Incarnate Word Academy is an all girls’ college preparatory school in Bel-Nor, Mo founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word since 1932. The mission of IWA is to challenge young women of faith to achieve their God-given potential as academically successful Women of the Word, following the example of Jesus, the Incarnate Word, by promoting human dignity, thereby empowering themselves and others to make a positive impact on our world. Position Summary
The Senior Director of Development works closely with the Incarnate Word Academy President to execute a comprehensive development program that increases philanthropic support for the school. This role is responsible for strengthening the annual giving program, managing leadership-level donors, and supporting institutional fundraising priorities through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Senior Director of Development is a hands-on fundraiser who focuses on attracting new donors, renewing and upgrading current donors, and increasing overall annual fund participation, while providing leadership for advancement operations and collaboration across the school community. As Incarnate Word Academy’s advancement efforts continue to grow, this role is expected to evolve in scope and responsibility. The Senior Director of Development will have the opportunity to expand leadership capacity, deepen fundraising strategy, and help shape the future direction of the advancement program. Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with the President to implement and advance IWA’s comprehensive development strategy, aligning fundraising efforts with institutional priorities and annual goals. Manage a portfolio of leadership-level donors and prospects, personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts of $1,000 and above to meet established fundraising targets. Lead the annual giving program, including planning and execution of annual fund appeals, donor acquisition and renewal strategies, stewardship efforts, and select fundraising events. Develop and execute strategies to grow donor participation, with an emphasis on increasing the number of annual donors and strengthening relationships with current supporters. Support major fundraising events and initiatives, including our annual gala, by facilitating donor cultivation and solicitation to meet or exceed sponsorship, Fund-A-Need, and attendance goals. Provide strategic input and direction for development communications, collaborating on print, digital, social, and video content that supports fundraising and donor engagement. Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Director of Admissions to supply data, student outcomes, alumnae stories, and other content needed for donor communications, stewardship, social media, and website updates. Oversee the accurate and timely processing, allocation, recording, and acknowledgement of all gifts. Oversee advancement operations and staff, including supervision of the Advancement Assistant-Database Manager, Manager of Special Events/Admissions Associate, and Manager of Alumnae Engagement. Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 5-7 years of development experience. Demonstrated success in soliciting leadership-level gifts of $1,000 and above. Experience implementing nonprofit fundraising strategies, including annual giving and special events. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Fluency with donor tracking software and social media platforms; proficiency with Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred. Talented team leader and team participant, adept at working with staff members with diverse skills, gifts, expertise, and experience. Compensation
