Position Summary
Coordinates medical and community outreach services to cancer patients and their families within Dare County and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
Participate in and arrange community outreach programs to support cancer prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship, including health fairs, educational programs, websites, in‑service learning and publications.
Empower patients to manage their treatment and survivorship experience more effectively and maximize the appropriate use of healthcare resources.
Collaborate with clinical team members and community resources to support timely access to care and integrated care delivery for disparate populations.
Support cancer programs and services through effective data collection and reporting.
Coordinate patient programs such as Look Good, Feel Better, Cancer Transitions Programs, Wig and Prosthetics programs, and the Get Real and Heel exercise program.
Be available on site to plan, set up and facilitate programs and to assist patients during treatment times with wig fittings and special needs.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of a high school diploma (or higher). Basic knowledge of medical and cancer terminology, health system operations and insurance coverage required. Certification in lay navigation or patient advocacy preferred.
Three (3) years’ experience required in community outreach, marketing, social services or a related field.
Two (2) additional years of experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for 2 years of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 4 years.
Other Information This is a PRN position requiring availability to plan and facilitate programs and to assist patients during treatment times. The weekly hours are variable based on patient needs and current programs, typically ranging from 5 to 10 hours per pay period. Regular availability Monday through Thursday 8 am to 5 pm is
