Medical Assistant – CNPA Greenbelt ($2k Sign‑On Bonus)
Children’s National Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support primary care providers in a pediatric setting. This position offers a base salary range of $37,668.80 to $62,774.40 per year, with a $2,000 sign‑on bonus.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (required) and graduation from an approved Medical Assistant Program.
Experience:
1 year of medical office experience, preferably in a pediatric setting.
Skills & Knowledge:
Basic math calculations; knowledge of examinations, diagnostic and treatment room procedures; medical equipment and terminology; experience with electronic medical records.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for examination and treatment; verify patient identity and review immunizations and labs; perform and record vital signs; instruct patients on basic testing and procedures; clean exam and treatment rooms after encounter.
Administer vaccines, medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collect and process lab specimens.
Observe and report patient’s condition and reaction to providers.
Assist providers with management of patient allergies, medications and history.
Prepare and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
Administrative Duties:
Process lab referrals and perform phone follow‑up for results.
Maintain vaccine inventory and knowledge of storage handling.
Complete requests for school and medication forms.
Immunization History:
Accurately document immunization history in electronic health record.
Communicate discrepancies in immunization history, labs, medications, etc., to assigned staff.
Non‑Essential Functions (additional duties as needed):
Understand HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
Develop knowledge of insurance and billing processes.
Demonstrate knowledge of Vaccine for Children and private stock vaccines and referrals.
