Overview
Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church, located in Yorktown, Virginia, is currently seeking candidates for the part-time position of Director of Music Ministry. Responsibilities
Leading the Chancel Choir, ensembles or soloists for Sunday worship or other special services. Providing organ and piano accompaniment for worship, weddings, funerals or other special services. Collaborates with the Pastor for the selection of hymns and musical offerings that are compatible with the type of service, sermon topic and the season of the church year. Conducts weekly choir rehearsals and encourages participation in choir, ensembles and solo offerings. Responsible for development of annual music budget and proper use of funds when selecting vocal/instrumental music, supplies and care for instruments. Catalogs/maintains music and draws from music library for Choir use. Compensation
$25,000 - $30,000/year – based on experience Paid Vacation: 2 Sundays/year (after 6 months employment) Paid Sick Leave: 5 Sundays or rehearsals/year Continuing Education: $250 annually Note: Willing to split role in order to consider candidates for separate positions of Music Director and Accompanist Qualifications
Demonstrated abilities in directing, rehearsing and leading musical groups. Proficiency in playing piano and organ. Prior experience leading the music program in a local church (minimum of 5-10 years). Strong inter-personal, communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of and experience with varied styles of music and composers. Christian faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
