Supervisor, CH HIM Operations

Responsible for monitoring the productivity, quality and efficiency of HIM operations. Work closely with clinical departments to develop flow improvements to ensure accurate and timely processing of medical record documentation. Complete and maintain schedules to ensure coverage of the department. Orient and train new co‑workers, provide continuing education on procedures and assist the Operations Manager to maintain appropriate compliance with department, administrative and attendance policies. Act as a knowledge expert in the content of the medical record. Collaborate with other departments to assure patient information is stored safely and only released in compliance with federal and state privacy rules. Participate in the ongoing and annual evaluation of Operations staff. Apply policies and procedures to proactively solve interpersonal problems and communicate effectively with a variety of personalities.
Education
High School Diploma - Required
Associates of Business - Preferred
Associates of Health Information Administration - Preferred
Experience
5-7 Years Supervisor or Team Lead in Hospital HIM Department - Required
Interpersonal and communication skills, ability to lead group meetings and initiate workflow changes.
Evidence of adaptability and willingness to adopt improvements.
Proven proficiency with navigating the electronic record, accurately locating patients in the MPI, identification and correction of erroneous entries in the record.
License & Certification

Reviews quality and quantity activity using available reporting tools. Initiates appropriate co‑worker counseling and re‑training when necessary. Provides ongoing technical training.
Makes support tech schedules and daily assignments. Conducts team briefings. Coordinates staff interviews and hires.
Utilizing excellent customer service skills and confidentiality, delivers requested information on patients both in person and on the telephone.
Ensures completion of daily scanning assignments. Monitors scanning and indexing areas to assure workflow is consistent. Reassigns scanning or indexing tasks during high‑volume or staffing shortages.
