Toolstation Limited
What you’ll do
Do you enjoy building strong customer relationships, and playing a key role in keeping cash flow healthy? Are you proactive, detail-focused, and confident managing queries while working with multiple teams? Do you take pride in resolving problems efficiently and delivering a great customer experience?
If the answer is yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for a

to join our Finance team.
This role is predominantly home-based; however,
we’re looking for someone who is currently living in the Northampton area,

As a Trade Credit Controller, you’ll play a vital role in minimising financial risk, supporting healthy cash flow, and maintaining positive relationships with our trade customers. Working closely with our Contact Centre, Retail and Finance teams, you’ll ensure customer accounts are well managed, queries are resolved efficiently, and payments are collected in a timely and professional manner.
You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring outstanding debts are collected on time while investigating and resolving invoice and balance queries. You’ll build strong relationships with customers to encourage prompt payment, act quickly on overdue or high-risk accounts, and elevate issues where appropriate. By following best-practice processes, you’ll help minimise risk, identify potential fraudulent activity, and communicate confidently with customers via phone and email. You’ll also support day-to-day departmental tasks and contribute to the wider objectives of the Trade Credit team.
What you’ll bring
Previous experience in credit control or a related finance role (desirable but not essential).
Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence in negotiation and decision-making.
A high level of attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
A customer-first mindset with the ability to empathise and build trust.
A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn.
A collaborative approach - you value teamwork and understand its role in success.
Reliability, flexibility and excellent timekeeping
Confidence using Google packages, including Google Docs.
What you’ll get You’ll find every opportunity to be yourself and to bring your personality and potential to work. Wherever you join us there will be opportunities to take your career wherever you want – up the ladder, across the business or into another role in the Travis Perkins Group. And because we want to do our best for you, you’ll be supported all the way with training and development – including access to our very own Toolstation Academy programmes.
Plus, you’ll receive some of the best benefits in retail. So, as well as generousholidays + Bank Holidays, company pension scheme and life assurance, we offer a bonus scheme, cycle to work scheme, save and buy as you earn, 20% discounts across all Travis Perkins companies, financial education and support, recognition awards and discounts at over 1000 other retailers.
