Modality Engineer (Imaging Systems / Biomedical Focus) — Contract
We are seeking a
contract Modality Engineer
to support enterprise imaging deployments across hospital and outpatient environments. This is a
high-travel (~90%) , hands‑on contract role focused on
onsite configuration, validation, and go‑live support of imaging modalities
including
MRI, CT, X‑Ray, and Ultrasound .
This position is ideal for someone with a
biomedical engineering or imaging systems background
who enjoys working directly with modality software, radiology workflows, and clinical teams in live healthcare environments.
Role Overview A Modality Engineer configures and validates
imaging equipment software and workflows
to ensure studies are created, labeled, and routed correctly across hospital imaging systems. The role sits at the intersection of
Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and IT , translating clinical workflow into accurate modality configuration.
Key Responsibilities
Travel to hospital and imaging center sites (~90%) for onsite modality configuration and go‑live support
Access and configure modality software and service interfaces (MRI, CT, X‑Ray, Ultrasound, etc.)
Configure exam metadata, identifiers, and workflow settings to align with enterprise imaging standards
Validate image transmission, study integrity, and downstream visibility prior to clinical use
Partner with Radiology, Biomed, and IT teams during cutovers and production go‑lives
Troubleshoot workflow and configuration issues in live clinical environments
Document modality configurations, validation results, and site‑specific workflows
Qualifications
Hands‑on experience with
medical imaging modalities or modality software configuration
Background in
biomedical engineering, imaging systems engineering, radiology IT, or imaging informatics
Understanding of radiology workflows and modality‑to‑system interactions
Comfortable working onsite in clinical environments and interfacing with technologists
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer‑facing skills
Willingness to travel extensively (~90%), primarily East Coast and Great Lakes area.
