Director, Substation Contracts Management
Fleet Data Centers designs, builds and operates mega-scale data center campuses. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced procurement professional overseeing all aspects of data center construction projects including cost planning and control, progress measurement, risk mitigation and schedule development. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Director of Contracts Management on all Request-For-Information / Quotation / Proposal (collectively “RFx”) process(s), in addition to participating in preparing, reviewing, negotiating, and executing contracts with various parties associated with substation and plant construction projects not include general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants. They will bring deep knowledge of construction economics, commercial negotiations, and cost control within mission‑critical or technically complex environments. Job Responsibilities The successful candidate will have experience and practical expertise in the following: Contracts Management process for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractors, turnkey and/or lump sum contractors for substations, or separately contracted Engineering and/or construction contractors for substation builds/works (collectively \"Substation Categories\"). Driving Substation Category prequalification, request‑for‑information/quotation/proposal (collectively \"RFx\") processes including standardization of forms to enable in‑system sourcing. Developing scopes of work/services for EPC (or direct engineering and/or construction) agreements in collaboration with design, engineering, construction, and other technical groups. Preparing, reviewing, negotiating, and executing contracts with vendors that support substation programs. Ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations and industry standards, managing contract‑related issues, claim(s), and/or disputes. Basic Qualifications 8+ years of commercial/transactional contracts management experience including awarding, drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration. Includes an applied understanding of commercial/contract language, engineering/construction practices, risk management, supply chain, or similar contracts‑related experience. 7+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience. 5+ years of substation/EPC/lump sum turnkey bidding, awarding, and contracting. 5+ years of data center experience or mission critical, fast‑paced/large‑scale infrastructure or data center projects. Substation/EPC/lump sum turnkey bidding, awarding, and contracting. Contract Formation, Execution Management, and Administration including: Creating/delivering contract execution plans, inclusive of contract formation, execution, and post‑execution management/administration. Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and executing contracts with various substation vendors. Managing contract renewals, amendments, extensions, terminations Maintaining up‑to‑date records of all contracts and related documents. Collaborating with legal, finance, construction, engineering, and supply chain teams to align contract terms with technical requirements, financial objectives, and legal protections. Identifying and mitigating potential risks and liabilities associated with contracts. Resolving any contract‑related issues and/or disputes. Data Center experience and/or mission critical infrastructure experience. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Degree in business administration, economics, construction management, legal studies, contract/business law, (Masters, J.D., etc.). Start‑up environment/mentality with a bias for execution. Strong knowledge of supply chain management tools, data analytics, and advanced reporting. Knowledge of supply chain sustainability/social responsibility Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) capabilities (development of business requirements through active use). Detail‑oriented with strong organizational, analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Education, Professional Certification, and Licenses: Bachelor’s degree is business administration, economics, finance, construction management, legal studies including Contract Law, Business Law, and or Supply Chain. Contract Management certifications. Travel and Schedule:
15% travel (U.S.) Expected Salary Range:
