Hatchery Technician / Machine Checker Schedule: Sunday: 1pm- 8pm Thursday: 12pm- 8pm Saturday: 4am – 2pm Position Summary
The
Hatchery Technician / Machine Checker
is responsible for 3,500,000 eggs in the incubators and hatchers by monitoring, operating, and maintaining hatchery equipment to ensure all machines operate accurately and safely. Key Responsibilities
Monitor incubators, hatchers, setters, and related hatchery equipment to ensure proper temperature, humidity, ventilation, and turning settings Perform routine machine checks and record data such as temperatures, alarms, hatch results, and equipment performance Identify equipment issues, alarms, or deviations and take corrective action or escalate to maintenance as needed Conduct basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of hatchery machines and sensors Assist with chick pull activities, machine setup, and shutdown procedures Ensure compliance with biosecurity, animal welfare, food safety, and sanitation standards Accurately complete production logs, checklists, and electronic records Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Work closely with hatchery management, maintenance, and quality teams to improve hatch performance Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements Basic mechanical aptitude; electrical or HVAC knowledge is a plus Ability to read gauges, digital controls, and machine displays Comfortable working in warm, humid environments and around live animals Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as required by hatchery schedule Physical Requirements
