Overview
Radiologic Technologist Full Time Nights – Detroit, Michigan (DMC Receiving Hospital). DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with a history in emergency medicine, a major burn center, a certified primary stroke center, and other nationally recognized programs. Responsibilities
Verifies patient identity and reviews the patient’s medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure. Interviews patient to obtain or update medical history and assesses risk factors such as medications and pregnancy. Explains procedure to patient, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up. Sets up equipment and acquires images as per protocol/script. Reviews images, notes any deviations from established protocols, and communicates data to radiologist. Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies as appropriate. Provides physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients. Participates in process improvement activities within radiology practice (quality of care, patient flow, reject/repeat analysis, patient satisfaction). Provides imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees. Able to take call/standby as required by the department. Qualifications
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification or able to obtain by end of orientation period. Skills
Analytical and clinical skills to determine appropriate radiographs based on patient factors. Interpersonal and communication skills to work with patients under stress and diverse hospital staff. Technical knowledge to operate radiology equipment and computers. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment. Physical stamina for walking, standing, lifting, and positioning patients; manual dexterity and visual acuity to produce quality radiographs. Job Details
