The Maintenance Specialist ensures the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our facilities and equipment. Works with custodial staff, groundskeepers, and other service providers needed to ensure all facilities are maintained and functioning properly to enhance the appearance and productivity of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, practical problem‑solving skills, and the ability to perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks.

This position is a part‑time position, averaging about 25 hours per week. Hours can be flexible daytime hours, Monday‑Friday.

How you will make an impact 40% Performs (general) maintenance and repair of company buildings/equipment and obtains work assignments from Supervisor, DJ Construction (could request certain repairs at times), or other company personnel. Contacts appropriate personnel requesting service and determines type of service/repairs needed. Consults with Supervisor, if needed, and when additional service providers may be required.

15% As needed, assists with credit union courier routes, school bag pickup, post office runs, and supply deliveries/pickups.

15% Assists with seminar room and conference room setup when requested by personnel through facilities ticketing system.

10% Responsible for tracking maintenance supplies and materials, while fostering and sustaining professional relationships with contracted vendors.

10% Has ongoing responsibility for the operation of any assigned company owned vehicles and arranges for regular maintenance.

10% Acts as electrician in repairing (minor) electrical malfunctions/installing equipment. Provides plumbing duties such as assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and sewer systems. Acts as a carpenter in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and furniture. May perform (minor) repairs to heating and air conditioning systems and conducts and oversees the general maintenance of these systems.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Credit Union Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Qualifications 1+ year experience in maintenance or facilities

Education / Certifications / Licenses Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills

Building systems maintenance: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems troubleshooting and repair

Preventive maintenance scheduling and documentation

Basic carpentry and painting for minor facility repairs and upkeep

Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and security/access control systems.

Vendor coordination for contracted repairs, cleaning, or inspections

Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job.

Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.

ADA Requirements Physical Requirements

Able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.

Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.

Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.

Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform maintenance and repair work both indoors and outdoors, including in varying seasonal weather conditions typical of Northern Indiana. Work may occur in climate‑controlled interior spaces as well as exterior areas of the credit union’s facilities, with exposure to moderate noise and environmental factors.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.

Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.

Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of member service and discretion when dealing with the public.

Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.

Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.

Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
