The Associate Engineer will work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. We offer a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the best of both worlds, working both in the office and the field on a variety of interesting projects. Areas of expertise include designing new substations and infrastructure, analyzing systems and disruptions to service, working with transformers, engineering the electrical protection and control circuits that handles the flow of power, and dealing with acceptance testing of equipment, failures of equipment and analysis of system disturbances.

The role is hybrid; the first three months are fulltime in the office.

Responsibilities

Transmission Line Engineering: take an active role in design and analysis of high voltage and extra high voltage electric transmission lines on the Eversource Energy Transmission System. Responsibilities include development and preparation of drawings, specifications, reports and estimates for transmission capital project work, maintenance support and other analyses as needed.

Extensive use of PowerLine Systems software packages including PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and TOWER; L-Pile; MFAD; EPRI EMF Workstation; MathCAD; AutoCAD and others.

Interact with Transmission System Planning, Siting & Permitting, Project Management, Real Estate and other functional areas within the Transmission Business.

Cooperate with vendor resources when required; teamwork and communication skills are vital.

May involve studies and provide or support testimony with regulatory bodies (e.g., Connecticut Siting Council, Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board) for national and regional energy policy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.

Experience: 0-3 years related experience required. Engineering design experience preferred.

Working Conditions: Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, occasional to significant travel by car may be required. A valid driver’s license is required.

Compensation and Benefits Compensation:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is $81,500.00-$90,560.00.
