Manufacturing Engineer – Missile Electronics / PCB Manufacturing
Location
Onsite (Oldsmar, Florida)
Work Schedule 4/10-2nd Shift, Mon-Thurs 3:30 PM-2:00 AM EST
Job Summary The Manufacturing Engineer supports missile electronics production through the design, development, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for circuit card assemblies (CCAs), electronic modules, and cable harnesses. This role serves as the technical bridge between design engineering and production operations, ensuring manufacturable designs, compliant processes, and high-quality output in a regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production layouts for
PCB/CCA and electronic module assemblies
Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to define robust and repeatable manufacturing processes
Collaborate closely with
Design Engineering
to implement design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) improvements
Support daily production floor activities by resolving technical issues, improving yields, and minimizing downtime
Lead
continuous improvement initiatives
focused on cost reduction, cycle time improvement, scrap reduction, and quality enhancement
Design, procure, validate, and implement
manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and aids
to support production and inspection
Develop and maintain detailed
process documentation , including manufacturing plans, travelers, routers, and work instructions
Incorporate inspection and test requirements into manufacturing processes, including in-process, final inspection, and functional testing
Evaluate machinery, equipment, and tooling performance; initiate corrective actions to resolve process inefficiencies or quality issues
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and failure investigations
Provide manufacturing input to engineering on equipment capabilities, process limitations, and specification requirements
Ensure all processes, documentation, and production activities comply with applicable
aerospace, quality, and regulatory standards
Preferred / Plus Experience
Cable harness manufacturing, routing, and assembly processes
Process writing and formal work instruction development
Experience supporting
missile, defense, or high-reliability electronics programs
Exposure to IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-620, IPC-7711/7721)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Experience supporting electronics manufacturing in a regulated or high-reliability environment
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials
Hands‑on experience supporting production operations
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Technical & Manufacturing Skills
PCB / CCA assembly (SMT, thru‑hole, mixed technology)
Electronic module assembly and integration
Cable and wire harness manufacturing
Tooling and fixture design
Process validation and first article support (FAI)
Manufacturing readiness and production ramp‑up
Yield improvement and defect reduction
Root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, PFMEA)
Quality & Compliance
AS9100 / ISO 9001 environments
IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-620)
Configuration management and document control
Audit support (internal, customer, regulatory)
Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)
Production & Continuous Improvement
Lean manufacturing principles
Kaizen events and process optimization
