Veterinary Technician – Surgery Department
VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our fast paced surgery department.

Schedule 4 10‑hour shifts, on‑call fees of $350.
Compensation $20 – $30 per hour, based on skill set, experience, and licensure status.
Position Summary We are looking for a highly skilled surgery technician who is comfortable with critical anesthetic cases including septic abdomens, thoracotomies, etc. This position is for someone who has already worked in a specialty surgery department or in a critical care environment and has managed difficult anesthetic cases. Weekends are required. On‑call offers competitive compensation.
Essential Job Functions Anesthesiology monitoring (blood pressure, CO2, SpO2, invasive BP monitoring), ventilator setup and management, calculating and administering multiple CRIs, performing hands‑free radiographs, surgical preparation for soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, sedation, intubation, and other duties as assigned by supervisors, management team, and/or doctors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Anesthetic skills for advanced procedures such as thoracotomies, septic abdomens, etc.
Knowledge of how to use and set up a ventilator.
Basic anesthetic physiology.
Surgical preparation for both soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
Basic computer skills.
Works well under pressure.
Able to multi‑task.
Able to stand on feet much of the day.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Professionalism Maintain a positive, upbeat attitude with doctors and team members. Team player maintains confidentiality (patient and staff member information). Able to communicate in a clear, courteous, and professional manner with doctors, staff members, and clients. Willingness and ability to learn new skills. Punctual, reliable, and flexible.
