Job Description: As a Senior Systems Engineer - SME in Infrastructure, Virtualization, and Automation, you will provide technical and management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments. Your exceptional and highly unique qualifications and expertise will drive the strategic direction and operational excellence of our network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems. We seek individuals with extensive experience in Nutanix HCI, VMWare, Linux, and Windows systems, along with demonstrated Terraform, Kubernetes, and Splunk experience, to support the forensic and investigative ecosystem across multi-enclave environments.
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must possess an active TS clearance at the time of application, be willing and able to obtain SCI access, and pass a CI polygraph.
This position is onsite 5/days a week in Chantilly, VA
May require occasional travel for Program Increment planning sessions
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field. In the absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may demonstrate the level of experience needed to perform at this level.
Experience with SAFe Agile framework.
Understanding of forensic and investigative system requirements.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing secure systems in government environments.
Exceptional domain knowledge and technical expertise.
Must be able to respond to critical incidents within designated resolution timelines
Required Technical Skills Advanced proficiency is required in:
Virtualization technologies (VSphere, VXRail, Proxmox, Nutanix).
Network administration and security.
Cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud, SC2S, C2S).
Linux and Windows operating systems.
Windows Active Directory.
Network hardware (Cisco, Arista, SonicWall).
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
Demonstrated experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Splunk.
Security accreditation processes.
Additional Technical Experience:
Hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
DevSecOps practices and tools.
Elasticsearch, and other data platforms.
Automation and scripting (Python, C#).
Database technologies (SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
LDAP/OpenLDAP, ADFS, Keycloak.
Tunneling protocols (GRE, IPSec, SSH, SSL).
SAFe Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments.
Establish goals and plans that meet project objectives.
Supervise, coordinate, design, develop, and implement additions and changes to network hardware, infrastructure server environments, and operating systems.
Provide direct support in the day‑to‑day operations of network hardware and operating systems.
Troubleshoot at both physical and logical network levels.
Participate in planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new network infrastructure.
Perform systems management and integration functions across multi‑enclave environments.
Maintain network infrastructure standards including communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.
Ensure systems are current with approved patches and assist with certification and accreditation tasks.
Develop strategy for client/server systems and design infrastructure to support that strategy.
Advise on the selection of technological purchases for processing, data storage, data access, and applications development.
Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff.
Conduct detailed analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts for client‑specific or mission‑critical challenges/issues.
Consult with the client to define needs or problems; supervise studies and lead surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions.
Participate in Program Increments (PIs) and Agile Release Train (ART) activities.
Support DevSecOps practices and tools implementation.
