Job Summary Responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, daily maintenance and quality assurance checks for the equipment, maintenance of the inventory of department supplies, and administrative quality assurance checks as assigned. Essential Functions

Administers radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely, following departmental policies and procedures.

Positions and immobilizes patients according to the treatment plan, effectively evaluates images according to standard guidelines, and assists in resolving setup issues.

Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program to encompass all aspects of treatment, treatment delivery, and quality patient care.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills to meet age-specific requirements for the population being served in their unit, including infants through elderly patients.

Ability to teach student therapists and other departmental observers.

Education

Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy required or Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses & Credentials

Radiation Therapist [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred.

Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred.

Radiation Therapy [R.T.(T)(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.

Radiation Therapist [Temporary License - Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Department Public Health-Radiation Control Program preferred.

Experience

Clinical internship in a major cancer center 0-1 year preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools, and procedures specific to the assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families.

Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking, and when resolving issues and conflicts.

Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information.

Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to: ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, and Eclipse.

Pay Range $28.22 - $42.28/Hourly Grade 5

Benefits 36 hours, 4 days per week with full time benefits including 10 paid holidays, 403b match, pension plan and 4 weeks PTO in first year. Minimum pay rate is $43.64 and increases with experience.
