Location: Texas City, Texas
Galveston County Health District is seeking a knowledgeable, forward-thinking IT Manager to lead our Information Technology operations! Work Schedule Work Schedule:
Full-time, on-site position with occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed for system maintenance or emergency response.
What You'll Do
Serve as the organization\'s IT Security Officer, leading cybersecurity strategy and operations
Design, deploy, secure, and optimize IP/MPLS/Ethernet network infrastructures
Manage network security systems including firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, SIEM, NAC, vulnerability scanning, and malware protection
Investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities
Coordinate penetration testing, risk assessments, and compliance with security frameworks
Oversee server administration, data centers, backups, and disaster recovery planning
Approve and direct hardware/software installations, upgrades, and system configurations
Lead IT strategic and operational planning aligned with organizational goals
Supervise and develop IT team members, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management
Establish and maintain IT policies, standards, procedures, and security controls
Develop and manage IT operating and capital budgets
Provide timely, professional technical support to all departments
Participate in emergency response operations as needed
Support and uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization
What We\'re Looking For
Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, IT, or related field
Five (5) years of IT experience including at least three (3) years as a server administrator -OR- ten (10) years of progressive IT experience with at least three (3) years as a server administrator
Minimum 3 years of Network Management & Security experience
Experience managing Cisco and HP Aruba network systems
Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, SIEM, NAC, vulnerability scanning, and URL filtering
Ability to design, troubleshoot, and secure IP/MPLS/Ethernet networks
Prior supervisory or management experience
Ability to travel independently; meet immunization, ICS, background check, and drug/alcohol screening requirements
Preferred
Master\'s degree in IT, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years of technical network security experience
Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, CCNA, GIAC, OSCP, etc.
Experience with incident response, security operations, and forensic analysis
Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT, and risk management frameworks
Equivalent education and experience may be considered
