The SMS Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and enforcing the rules that govern airfield safety. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and assess situations quickly and objectively while determining the proper course of action within established standard operating procedures, while representing CLT in a professional and positive manner.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**



Under supervision, ensures CLT’s compliance with 14 CFR Part 139, specifically Subpart E – Airport Safety Management System. Also responsible for general duties associated with CLT’s overall 14 CFR Part 139 and 49 CFR Part 1542 compliance



Conducts inspections on movement and non-movement areas to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, specific to airfield safety and CLT’s SMS



Assists with SMS-related projects. Frequently formulates comprehensive and concise communications in both oral and written form



Assists with training and promotion of CLT’s SMS program



Responsible for coordinating with stakeholders and internal partners on a regular basis



Conducts site visits at facilities around the airport property. Follows up on safety incidents, inquiries, and anonymous tips and generates reports



Generates work orders and inspects completed work to ensure satisfactory results



Conducts investigations into non-compliance with safety rules and regulations



Issues administrative safety violations to employees who violate safety rules in a professional and calm manner, when necessary



Supports CLT’s Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Management Program – responsible for organizing and leading FOD walks as well as associated program activities



Follows complex instructions, establishes and maintains effective working relationships



Assists during emergencies and irregular operations as directed



Assists other Airport Operations divisions with tasks as needed. May be assigned to day-to-day Airport Operations duties as needed, 24/7/365



Performs other duties as assigned**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**Required Education and Experience



High School diploma (or GED equivalent) and five years of related work experience OR



Associate’s Degree and three years of related work experience OR



Bachelor’s Degree and one year or relevant work experience OR



Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.Required Licenses or Certifications



Valid Driver’s License (Required)



Non-Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained upon hire)



Movement Area Driving Certification (Required to be obtained within 60 days of hire)



AAAE ACE SMS or AAAE ACE Operations (Preferred)



Other relevant Part 139 or Safety Management System Certifications (Preferred)**COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES:**Knowledge of:

Conduct complex investigations and maintain confidentiality related to findings



Calmly and professionally issue administrative safety citations to employees who violate safety rules and procedures



Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal communication

This position requires the incumbent to perform work on-site, primarily outdoors while operating a motor vehicle or on foot. The incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle in all weather conditions, on and off-road, in both non-movement and movement areas of the Air Operations Area. Significant walking will be required on a daily basis to perform safety investigations and meet with employees to address safety concerns. This position will also require some office work indoors, primarily to complete reports and other administrative functions. During significant incidents, accidents, or investigations, the incumbent will be required to stand for significant periods with limited opportunities to sit, often outdoors, year-round. Incumbent must be willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in areas where PPE is required. Incumbent will be required to have in-person contact with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.**ADA and Other Requirements**

The work will require the incumbent to lift and carry (up to 50 pounds), bend, reach, twist, kneel, walk, run, and climb.Physical Requirements:
