Welcome to Love's The BI Developer III is a senior-level contributor responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing advanced business intelligence and analytics solutions that support enterprise decision-making at Love’s. Reporting to the BI Supervisor, this role delivers scalable, supportable, and high‑performing data products—including dashboards, complex reporting solutions, data transformations, and automated workflows.
Job Functions
Collaborate with business units to refine, validate, and translate reporting and analytics requirements
Maintain a strong customer service mindset and deliver solutions that support operational excellence and strategic insights
Develop complex, enterprise‑grade reporting and analytics solutions across multiple business domains
Design, implement, and maintain robust ETL and data transformation processes
Build scalable data models, datasets, and reports using Power BI (including traditional and paginated reports)
Ensure established development standards, coding practices, and data governance expectations are followed
Leverage AI‑driven tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, prompt-based SQL/BI accelerators) to speed development, enhance quality, and reduce defects
Evaluate emerging AI and automation technologies and recommend their applicability to BI workflows, DataOps practices, and business use cases
Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to BI Developer I and II team members
Conduct thorough peer reviews, provide alternative design recommendations, and promote best practices to ensure consistent, high‑quality deliverables
Create and maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation
Manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, BI trends, cloud data platforms, and enterprise reporting strategies
Supports broader team and enterprise goals by proactively contributing to initiatives outside of core responsibilities
Experience and Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree in Business with MIS or technology related degree (C.S.)
Strong foundational understanding of database concepts, including relational structures and data modeling
Solid understanding of ETL concepts and hands‑on experience designing or supporting data transformation workflows
Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling and enterprise reporting structures
Proficiency with Power BI, including traditional dashboards, data models, Power Query, DAX, and paginated reports
Strong SQL skills, including creating and modifying database objects (DDL) and managing/manipulating data (DML)
Snowflake experience preferred; or equivalent experience with modern cloud data platforms
Hands‑on experience using Azure DevOps for source control, work item tracking, and/or deployment pipelines (preferred)
Power Automate experience preferred for workflow automation and BI process efficiency
Exposure to SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), with willingness to support and extend existing SSRS solutions as needed
Experience leveraging AI‑driven development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Power BI AI helpers) to accelerate coding, documentation, testing, and solution design across the BI and DataOps lifecycle (preferred)
Skills and Physical Demands
Hard Skills: Advanced SQL proficiency (complex queries, DDL/DML, optimization, performance tuning), Power BI development expertise (data modeling, DAX, Power Query, paginated reports), ETL/ELT design and development (building scalable, maintainable data pipelines), Data warehousing & dimensional modeling (schema design, star/snowflake models), Experience with cloud data platforms (preferably Snowflake; SAP HANA exposure a plus), AI‑enabled development tools (Copilot, Claude Code, prompt-based efficiency tools), Azure DevOps usage (repos, pipelines, Agile work tracking, CI/CD awareness), and Exposure to and willingness to learn SAP HANA for enterprise reporting and analytics workloads
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills (clear, concise, able to translate technical to business), Customer‑focused mindset (service orientation, credibility with stakeholders), Collaborative team orientation (effective partnering across IT and business), Advanced problem‑solving & critical thinking (diagnosis, root‑cause analysis), Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, Mentorship and guidance for junior developers (peer reviews, coaching), and Self‑motivation and independent ownership (proactive, minimal supervision needed)
