Job Description
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Software QA Specialist to join our team. In this role you will get to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of critical software systems through rigorous testing and validation.
What You'll Be Doing
Reviewing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
Designing, developing, and executing detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts (manual and automated)
Performing functional, regression, integration, and system testing on web and/or enterprise applications
Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects using standard issue‑tracking tools, and collaborating with developers to resolve them
Participating in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contributing to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards
Creating and maintaining test data, test environments, and test documentation
Validating bug fixes and performing thorough regression testing prior to release
Collaborating with cross‑functional teams (developers, product owners, business analysts) to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
Providing clear and concise test reports, including quality metrics and release readiness assessments
Supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) and production validation as needed
What Required Skills You'll Bring
Active Secret Clearance
12+ years of combined education/experience
Proven experience as a Software QA/QC Engineer or similar role in a software development environment
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
Hands‑on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar)
Experience testing APIs, web applications, and/or backend services
Basic knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar)
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum development practices
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe issues and impacts
Occasional domestic/international project travel may be required
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Experience in performance, load, and/or security testing
Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into build pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and testing in cloud‑native architectures
Experience in testing microservices, containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes), or distributed systems
Knowledge of SQL and ability to query databases for test data validation
Experience working in regulated or mission‑critical domains (e.g., defense, transportation, infrastructure, aerospace)
ISTQB or other relevant QA/QC certifications
Experience with behavior‑driven development (BDD) and related tools (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow)
Strong attention to detail and a passion for improving software quality and user experience
Security Clearance Requirement An active Secret security clearance is required for this position.

Salary Range: $108,700.00 – $190,200.00
