Description Job Title: Accounting Manager Location: Greater Hartford Area (Onsite, 5 days / week) Position Type: Full-Time / Permanent Recruiter Contact: Abby Harpp - abby.harpp@roberthalf Job Reference: AH0013360420 We're partnering with a privately held, multi-entity organization with operations across retail, energy-related services, and property holdings to identify an Accounting Manager for a newly created role. This position will report to the Controller and support a growing, operationally diverse business with increasing accounting and systems complexity. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee full-cycle accounting including general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Support accounting across multiple entities, including operating and property-based businesses
- Review agreements and perform financial analysis to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition
- Prepare budget-to-actual and management reporting
- Record intercompany, asset, liability, revenue, and expense transactions
- Oversee commission calculations and payments
- Prepare and file sales & use tax filings across multiple states
- Support ERP optimization, reporting, and team training
- Manage and develop a small accounting team
- Partner with senior accounting leadership to improve processes and controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience leading or training accounting staff
- Experience supporting multi-entity or operationally complex environments
- Strong systems and ERP experience
- Exposure to state tax filings
- MBA or Master's Degree
- CPA or CMA
- Public/Big 4 experience
