Histology Technologist - Surgical Pathology / Histology (40 hrs Biweekly) Location:

MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, OH Biweekly Hours:

40.00 Shift:

Hours start between 4am and 8am as scheduled. Days of week: two days one week and three days the next.

Responsibilities Performs a variety of Anatomic Pathology laboratory procedures under technical supervision, following procedural guidelines, departmental and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards. Coordinates with a diverse group of people in daily operational tasks, upholding the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications Required:

Registered Histology Technician (HT) or Histology Technologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or

Proof of an ASCP Admission Notice with application submitted and eligibility documents approved for examination scheduling; must provide notification of passing score on the certification exam within one month of admission notice expiration.

Education:

Associate of Science degree in Applied Science or equivalent as outlined in CLIA‑88 Regulations.

Or HS Diploma or high school equivalency exam passage with prior experience performing tissue handling and dissecting/grossing before April 24, 1995, documented by previous employers.

Preferred:

Bachelor of Science degree.

Experience with electronic equipment and computer systems.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day; may need to sit or stand for extended periods; normal visual and auditory ranges with or without correction; exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
