Position Summary This position works under the direction of the administrative medical director to assist in the implementation of selected portions of the care plan, and perform a variety of direct patient care services through defined protocols/standing orders approved by the administrative medical director.
Position Duties
Performs patient care interventions, including medication administration, in alignment with state scope of practice and tasks approved by Phoenix Children’s and administrative medical director, and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Performs focused assessment of interventions as appropriate, including complete documentation and escalation of abnormalities as indicated.
Provides orientation to the unit, hospital systems, and processes to patients and family members to ensure familiarity with the unit’s policies and requirements.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations, and requirements.
Participates in a variety of in‑service programs, meetings, and rounds as indicated.
Performs a variety of activities to provide for the ongoing maintenance of the department’s environment and patient care needs.
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications Education Completion of a course of study leading to a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Minimum 1 year of experience as EMT or paramedic.
Additional Requirements
Current Arizona Paramedic certification or ability to obtain prior to start date.
Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or the ability to obtain prior to start date.
Current PALS or must obtain within 9 months of start date.
Current ACLS (Preferred).
Physical Requirements & Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential Physical Requirements – climbing occasionally, feeling constantly, fine motor skills constantly, hearing constantly, pushing/pulling frequently, reaching frequently, sitting occasionally, standing frequently, stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling frequently, talking constantly, tasting/smelling frequently, walking constantly, near vision constantly, far vision constantly, color discrimination frequently, use of keyboard/mouse/computer constantly, lift up to 35 pounds frequently, lift more than 35 pounds frequently.
Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential – inside office environment, outdoor weather conditions, confined areas, airborne communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluid, fumes or airborne particles, hazardous materials exposure, radiation exposure, toxic or caustic chemicals.
