Three (3) part-time vacancies available to start Spring semester.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Dean of STEM, develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of daytime or evening Civil Engineering courses. May require teaching courses at multiple MATC campuses, business and community to include online and virtual modalities.
Participate in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned.
Required to remain current with industry trends and technologies in the marketplace.
Qualifications
Educational Experience Required:
Must have one (1) of the following:
A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree such as Structural Engineering, Surveying Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Environmental Engineering.
-OR-
Associate's Degree (AAS) in Civil Engineering Technology.
-OR-
Land Surveyor License from the State of Wisconsin.
Occupational Experience Required:
Must have a two (2) years (4,000 hours) of work experience in the Civil Engineering or Technology field. In addition, one of the following must be met:
At least one (1) year of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years.
-OR-
One (1) year of teaching Civil Engineering course work at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.
Licensure:
A Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor license from the State of Wisconsin is preferred.

Experience with or willingness to learn: Online Information Management Systems (self-service or other systems for student advising, programs, grading, class schedules and rosters); Blackboard Ultra or similar; Technology-based Instruction (SMART boards, projectors, etc.); Emerging Technologies (e.g., social networking).
Start Date This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start in the spring semester or January 2026. This position is part of the part-time faculty pool, with the start date contingent upon course availability.

Hours:
Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the Multi-campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin; working outside the state is prohibited. Assignments and schedule depend on course offerings and enrollment needs.

Salary Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
