Oversee the safe, efficient and productive operation of the mining pits under the direct supervision of the Production Manager or Production Team Lead. Key Responsibilities
Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Mission and Values. Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and situations arising in open pit mining operations. Demonstrated ability to coordinate work with Plant, Maintenance and Dispatch. Abide by and ensure compliance with all Company rules and guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws. Directly supervise and mentor hourly employees dedicated to the crew, setting annual goals and managing career development. Manage the time collection system. Conduct crew meetings and trainings. Conduct weekly safety audits and complete safety interactions. Assist with administration of the performance management process. Other duties as assigned by the Company. Minimum Qualifications
Formal education in engineering or minimum of five years of surface mining experience. Must have prior experience (minimum one year) as a Supervisor or Crew Lead in a surface mining operation. Must have or be willing to obtain Mine Foreman’s Certificate within one year. Ability to direct employees in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Demonstrated knowledge/experience of heavy equipment operations including shovels, draglines, RTD’s, blades, dozers, haul trucks and scrapers; drilling and blasting, maintenance and plant operations either in a supervisory or operator capacity. Knowledge and understanding of mine planning, coal quality as well as dispatch. Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to recognize and develop skills and abilities in others. Ability to listen and encourage transfer of information, suggestions and concerns. Knowledge required of PPRS programs such as Safety, Technician System, Corrective Action, Performance Management and effective supervisory practices. Ability to work with SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. Physical Requirements – Surface Environment
Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift. Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
