Responsibilities
Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds in accordance with AWS, ASME, and project-specific standards.
Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications.
Monitor welding operations to ensure compliance with approved procedures and safety regulations.
Document inspection results, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate records.
Collaborate with project engineers, quality assurance teams, and contractors to resolve welding-related issues.
Ensure adherence to power plant safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Participate in root cause analysis for welding defects and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential from AWS (American Welding Society) – required.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in power plant or heavy industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, API, and other relevant standards.
Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloys).
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work in challenging environments, including elevated structures and confined spaces.
