Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic growth-oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end user markets throughout Georgia. We are seeking an experienced
Human Resources Generalist
for our company. Previous human resource required and experience in the petroleum or transportation industry is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate is dedicated, self-directed, has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, excels at time management, impeccably organized, and comfortable engaging with new people. We are willing to have this position based at several of our bulk plant locations—Athens, Waycross, or Albany. It is posted separately for each location, but there is only one position as this position will serve all locations.
The typical schedule will be Monday through Friday 8a-5p. To meet customer need there may be schedule flexibility. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

SUMMARY Under limited supervision, administer all Human Resource daily functions with particular focus on the end-to-end staffing process, employee training, and benefits administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, screen, interview, and onboard new employees for a positive employment brand experience.
Support and guide supervisors and managers through the total hiring and onboarding process to include completion of position specific training.
Ensure compliance with applicant tracking and record keeping requirements.
Organize and conduct onboarding and orientation sessions that develop connection and build culture with new hires.
Support employee development by monitoring position specific and ongoing training. Coordinate with supervisors for effective use of educational tools like the Learning Management System.
Partner with HR Manager to address and resolve employee relations issues including, but not limited to, internal investigations of employee complaints and concerns.
Administer employee benefits as the main point of contact for employees. Utilize online benefit administration system and communication materials like benefit guides to support employees’ ability to understand and participate in the benefits program. Liaise as needed to resolve claim inquiries.
Maintain personnel files including updating the HRIS, other electronic records, and hard copy files as appropriate.
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations for human resource functions and related compliance.
Monitor and update required legal postings in hard copy on bulletin boards and electronically as appropriate.
Drive Employee Engagement and Appreciation by planning and executing morale boosting activities. This will be accomplished in coordination with the Business Manager. May include team building events, incentive activities, and other employee programs.
Assist department and location leaders in the development and use of company policies and procedures and establish a rapport in and between departments so that each can realize the importance of standard operating procedures.
Maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for all personnel in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, OSHA, and other pertinent laws and regulations.
Prepare employee communication documents including new hire, disability, benefit, separation notices, and related documentation. Disseminate and/or collect the related data and forms.
Work with HR Manager or third-party providers in management of employee life cycle processes and transactions.
Promote, assist in coordinating, and follow through on safety activities such a committee meetings, audits, accident investigations, etc.
Act as a partner in the talent management process to include progressive discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Determine the best method to deliver needed training; prepare materials, locations, and supplies accordingly.
Develop and maintain a library of training and reference materials and documentation.
Periodically review internal training programs, then recommend and facilitate improvements.
Research and identify areas in which training is required and/or beneficial.
Design, draft, and/or acquire new training materials.
Collaborate with outside consultants and training providers to deliver training.
Administer, score, and log results of qualification, learning assessment, and retention tests; arrange retraining or other appropriate action for insufficient scores. May be accomplished through use of a Learning Management System or similar software.
Maintain payroll to include maintenance of employee records, processing timecards, paychecks, computation of federal and state payroll taxes, miscellaneous deductions, etc. Can be performed via outsourced payroll system.
Assist in the planning and implementation of changes in the HRIS system.
Support management of Worker’s Compensation claims for both the employee and third-party provider. Maintain appropriate records and correspondence related to claim filing, processing, and resolution.
Support regulatory compliance, particularly for drivers, through complete documentation and record keeping. This includes but is not limited to Drive Qualification Files.
Represent the company at and participate in internal meetings and with external partners.
Schedule and participate in departmental meetings.
Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.
Provide and/or compile data for reports and analysis, particularly those related to HR.
Other duties as assigned.
Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Greet walk-in customers while answering telephone calls and emails from customers and clients and directing them to relevant staff.
Travel to any Boswell Oil location to support HR functions such as Open Enrollment Meetings.
Coordinate travel, correspondence, and other administrative needs of the company’s executives and owners.
Monitor office supply inventory and order as needed at all locations.
Cross‑train to assist in other departments.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Required and responsible for employee safety, attending safety training, complying with all company safety and work policies and reporting all accidents/injuries immediately to their Manager and HR Department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of non‑supervisory personnel to support talent management and retention efforts of management and leadership team. Responsible for partnering with managers/supervisors to interview, hire, and train employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The minimum education required for this position is an Associates Degree in Human Resource Administration or related field. Minimum 2 years experience in human resource administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the transportation industry preferred. Experience as Human Resources in the transportation industry to include Department of Transportation compliance strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to read, speak, and write the English language. Ability to present prepared information to a variety of groups including drivers, employees, and management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to comprehend and apply the principles of mathematics. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions. Knowledge of costing and production methods in a manufacturing environment.
REASONING ABILITY This position requires an ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Preferred to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Computer skills to include experience working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, any Web Browser, HRIS or payroll systems, Applicant Tracking Systems, and/or Learning Management Systems.
