Overview The first medical institution in New Jersey to perform open‑heart surgery and to develop a cardiac catheterization program, Saint Michael’s Medical Center is home to the Heart and Vascular Institute, offering innovative cardiac treatments and procedures.
Responsibilities
Accountable to Admitting Leadership and responsible for scheduling tests/procedure cases for all scheduled events.
Schedule clinic visits, surgery, G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Infusion units, and other locations.
Coordinate with departments as necessary and ensure accurate, complete patient demographics, including insurance and authorizations.
Notify departments of services requiring equipment, instrumentation, and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries.
Prepare and distribute the surgical schedule and on‑call list to appropriate departments or personnel.
Qualifications
High School Graduate or GED Equivalent (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements.
1‑2 year previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Customer service experience required.
Strong clerical and computer skills.
Pay Transparency Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package. Expected wages range between $15.49 and $21.81 per hour. Benefits include paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and additional voluntary benefit options.
