role. This is an outstanding opportunity for a DVM who excels in general practice medicine and surgery and is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and delivering exceptional patient care.

About the Practice Founded in 1999, this well-established, AAHA-style general practice serves dogs, cats, and select exotic pets, with a strong emphasis on client communication and fear-free handling. The hospital is supported by a skilled four-doctor veterinary team and a modern facility that includes five exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, an in-house laboratory, digital radiology, and intraoral dental radiology. The practice maintains a diverse and robust caseload spanning medical, surgical, and dental care.

The Role The Medical Director provides both hands-on clinical care and strategic leadership. This individual sets medical standards, supports team development, and partners with hospital leadership to ensure high-quality medicine and a positive, collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities Lead by example in medical and surgical excellence Mentor veterinarians and support staff Guide clinical decision-making and protocol development Support hospital operations, workflow improvements, and team culture Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care

Clinical Duties Provide preventive care, diagnostics, and chronic disease management Perform general soft tissue surgeries (spay/neuter, mass removals, foreign body surgeries, etc.) Deliver comprehensive dental care, including extractions with radiographic support Promote Fear Free, client-centered veterinary care

Candidate Qualifications DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school Licensed or eligible for licensure in Maryland Minimum of 3 years of small animal clinical experience Strong proficiency in general soft tissue surgery and dentistry Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred A collaborative mindset with a passion for coaching and gold-standard medicine

Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary range of

$120,000–$160,000 , plus production bonuses Sign-on bonus available
