Monitor Tech – 7N Telemetry – Full Time 12 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)
Join Keck Medicine of USC as a Monitor Tech – 7N Telemetry. You will perform clerical, clinical, and communication functions on the assigned nursing unit, providing courteous reception, coordinating activities for patient care, and assisting nursing staff with documentation and monitoring.
Essential Duties
Clerical:
Proficient with computer systems; prints 2130 and 2400 census logs; updates admissions and discharges; completes A/D/T within 30 minutes; processes repair requests; maintains outpatient stay log; ensures a clean & organized work area.
Order Transcription:
Transcribes orders accurately and timely; prioritizes stat orders; scans orders to pharmacy; flags telephone orders; notifies RN of stat orders.
Customer Service:
Courteous and compassionate communication with public, patients, and hospital personnel; answers calls within 3 rings; routes requests appropriately.
Medical Records Maintenance:
Assembles admission charts within 20 minutes; files lab and diagnostic reports; manages chart dividers; places discharge charts in HIM basket.
Teamwork/Collaboration:
Completes assignments; maintains communication with management and staff; attends unit secretary meetings; assists new unit secretaries; collaborates with M.D.s and other staff.
Monitoring Functions:
Monitors and interprets EKG rhythms; monitors EEG patterns; informs RN of changes; tracks and documents monitoring equipment.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Specialized/technical training; successful completion of Medical Terminology exam and basic EKG course.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent communication skills (speak, read, write English).
Demonstrated customer‑service behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience as a Unit Secretary.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card on hire, must obtain within 30 days.
The hourly rate range for this position is $23.00 – $39.10. Pay is determined by factors including scope of responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market considerations.
